• January 20, 2016 - Welcome to the official site of the CS 130 (Mathematical Methods in Computer Science) class of Nestine Hernandez. Here you will find materials you may need for the class and announcements regarding future activities. 

• Consultation Hours: TTh 2:30-6pm

  • January 21, 2016 - Starting tomorrow, we'll have our classes at the ERDT Room.

  • February 15, 2016 - For PROBLEM SET 1, on an A4 white bond paper, please write NEATLY your solutions to the following:

    • (#s1-4) First order ODEs: Choose four (4) ONLY out of the ten items in here.

    • (#s 5-7) Higher order ODEs: Choose three (3) ONLY from numbers 11-15 in here.

    • (#8) Machine exercise: Check out the ODE solver in SCILAB. Explain how it is used to solve ODEs. Give an example of a simple ODE. Solve it using the ODE solver. Also do manual computation to solve the same problem. Compare the results. Are they the same? If not, why do you think so? Show your scilab script and its output and your own solution in your submission.  

    • Submit on or before Tuesday, 23 February 2016, 5pm at Rm 319. Late submissions will not be accepted.

  • February 16, 2016 - 

    • Reminder: FIRST LONG EXAM tomorrow at the ERDT Room, 8:30-10am.

    • There are still 6 students who haven't submitted bluebooks for the exam. Make sure you bring a bluebook tomorrow, else you'll be wasting precious time trying to find one.

• April 20, 2016 -

  • • Problem Set 2 is due on 04 May 2016, 10am.

• April 27, 2016 -

  • • Reminder: THIRD LONG EXAM on Friday, 29 April 2016 at the ERDT Room, 8:30-10am.

    • For those who haven't submitted bluebooks for the exam, make sure you submit one by tomorrow, else you'll be wasting precious time trying to find one during exam day.

    • You are allowed to bring one cheat sheet only of size A4.

  • May 3, 2016 -

    • Reminder: PS2  is due tomorrow, 04 May 2016, 10 am. No late submissions will be accepted. Submit at Rm 319.

    • Results of 3rd LE is already available. You may claim them anytime at Rm 319.

  • • Here is a partial tally of your grades. 

    • Please email me if there are any discrepancy. I will post the exemption list by Sunday.

• May 8, 2016 -

  • • Prefinal grades are now available.

    • Reminder : Final exam is on 13 May 2016, 8:30-10am at the ERDT room. 

    • Coverage : All topics covered in class.
